New Event! Tour the Ben T. Zinn Combustion Lab

Arriving early? Georgia Institute of Technology is hosting a tour of the Ben T. Zinn Combustion Lab on Monday, November 13th at 11 a.m. EDT.

The Ben T. Zinn Combustion Lab is a globally leading hub for research in combustion, propulsion, and energy. The combustion group at Georgia Tech performs research on a variety of combustion platforms from domestic heating to rockets. Gas turbines for aviation and ground power are the dominant combustion platforms researched today. Decarbonization is a dominant application area, including ammonia fuel, hydrogen fuel, and renewable liquid fuels. Research topics include pollutant emissions formation, operational flexibility, and combustion instabilities. Select ammonia research includes a pressure-capable swirl burner, a Hencken Burner, and chemical kinetics calculations. An ammonia combustion demo is planned for this tour in the swirl burner.

One-on-one Meetings with LPO

We are pleased to announce that the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO) will be participating in our panel discussion regarding project offtake at the AEA Annual Conference.
Edward Davis, Senior Consultant, has over 15 years of experience with LPO in a number of clean energy sectors, including hydrogen, off-shore wind and advanced nuclear, and is experienced all phases of project development, including project planning, finance, and execution.
In addition, Mr. Davis has agreed to make himself available for a limited number of one-on-one sessions with interested AEA member companies to discuss in further detail any interest in participating in the LPO program. If interested, please check your weekly member notice for more details.

Dolf Gielen is hydrogen lead in the World Bank ESMAP. His work is focused in financing for accelerated hydrogen deployment. World Bank Group is growing its hydrogen engagements as part of the drive to strengthen carbon financing worldwide while ensuring a just energy transition.

Global Ammonia Certification As Enabler for Accelerated Investment and Financing
Ammonia can be a key clean hydrogen carrier for the coming decades. It offers the prospect of a new clean energy commodity that can be traded widely. However, such trade will depend critically on a harmonized international certification system for the embedded greenhouse gas emissions. This presentation will elaborate the market potential as well as the investment and financing needs based on new analysis. It will draw on the recent clean hydrogen certification experience to suggest solutions for the way ahead.
