Announcing the 2019 Ammonia Energy Conference
By Trevor Brown on July 25, 2019
ANNOUNCEMENT: The Ammonia Energy Association (AEA) has published the full schedule for our 16th annual conference, which will take place November 12-14, 2019, in Orlando, Florida.
Like last year, the Ammonia Energy Conference has two parts: the Topical Conference, consisting of technical presentations, and the Implementation Conference, consisting of closed-door workshops followed by open plenary sessions featuring keynote speeches, panel discussions, and audience debate. Both events are hosted within the AIChE Annual Meeting.
With more than 50 talks scheduled across three days, the Ammonia Energy Conference offers attendees the opportunity to learn from and network with key technology and project developers. The technical presentations are organized into ten sessions spanning the full ammonia energy value chain, from sustainable ammonia synthesis to the use of ammonia as a fuel and energy carrier. Speakers represent both industry and academia, and will provide insights into the near-term commercial activities and the long-term technical potential for ammonia energy. Beyond presenting technical information, the event ultimately aims to accelerate the adoption of ammonia in a sustainable energy economy, with additional programming exclusively for AEA Members, and with the workshops of the Implementation Conference focused on setting the agenda for the Ammonia Energy Association moving forward.
AMMONIA ENERGY TOPICAL CONFERENCE: NOV 12 – 14
Unlike last year’s one-day Topical Conference, this year’s three-day event allows all of our technical presentations to be longer (18 minutes each plus 5 minutes Q&A). This means that attendees will get a higher quality of engagement with the research being presented, and better opportunities for networking among our international gathering of academics, policy-makers, and industry representatives.
Two highlights of the Topical Conference will be our evening receptions. On Tuesday, November 12, from 6pm to 8pm, we will host our biggest ever Poster Session, showcasing more than 20 research projects from around the world. On Wednesday, November 13, from 6pm to 8pm, we invite all attendees to join our Platinum Reception, with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, to hear our Keynote Speech by Rob Stevens from Yara International ASA, who will discuss “Decarbonized Ammonia for Food and Energy.”
AMMONIA ENERGY IMPLEMENTATION CONFERENCE: NOV 14
This year’s Implementation Conference is also hosted within the AIChE Annual Meeting, meaning that attendees only need to register once for both the Topical Conference and the Implementation Conference, and there is only one venue for all events. Participation in the morning workshops of the Implementation Conference is reserved for Industry Members of the Ammonia Energy Association (learn more about Membership).
In the afternoon, everybody is welcome to attend two plenary sessions, which will feature Keynote Speeches by Cédric Philibert on behalf of the International Energy Agency, and Shigeru Muraki from the Green Ammonia Consortium. Each keynote will be followed by a panel discussion, broadening out into a general audience debate, with contributions welcomed from all attendees.
Registration is now open via AIChE, however, all members of the AEA are entitled to a discount on registration. Membership purchase and the member discount codes will be available online in early August. Please wait for more information before registering. If you are not yet on our e-mailing list, please subscribe today and you will be notified when these are available.
