EverWind Fuels has secured a $175 million strategic investment from Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Credit, advancing the deployment of 650-plus MW of onshore wind in Nova Scotia. The renewable energy generation will support grid decarbonisation in Nova Scotia, plus the first phase of the Point Tupper project – 240,000 tons per year of ammonia production, and a total 800 MW of new renewable generation backed up by a grid connection, including onshore wind, 150 MW of solar PV, and 50 MW/100 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS). Future project phases include GW of renewable energy generation, further decarbonising the local grid and boosting ammonia production past one million tons per year.
Nuveen’s investment is a major step forward for EverWind and a strong vote of confidence in Nova Scotia as a place where serious clean energy infrastructure can be built. It converts years of development work into shovel-ready execution, creating substantial procurement opportunities for Nova Scotian suppliers, hundreds of construction jobs, and long-term skilled roles in rural communities. This investment clearly signals that major institutional capital is choosing to back large-scale clean power infrastructure in Nova Scotia, bringing outside investment into the province and Canada. By investing at this scale, our project will generate long-term economic and community benefits, including municipal and provincial tax revenues and direct community contributions.

The technical and commercial rigor underpinning these projects, validated through extensive independent diligence, gives us confidence in their execution readiness and long-term value creation potential. EverWind’s phased approach—advancing proven wind generation while building toward green fuels production—aligns with our infrastructure strategy of backing scalable platforms that can deliver both near-term cash flows and multi-decade growth.”
Don Dimitrievich, Portfolio Manager, Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Credit, in EverWind’s official press release, 3 Mar 2026
Construction of onshore wind is planned to commence this year. A local Indigenous consortium led by Membertou First Nation holds majority ownership in the first phase of onshore wind projects, representing one of Canada’s largest Indigenous equity stakes in renewable energy infrastructure. The phased development strategy for Point Tupper manages investment and execution risk, and the “sequenced approach” to developing wind generation, grid infrastructure, and green fuels production as “interconnected but independently viable stages” means that demonstrated operational success for each phase will support development of the next.
