4:00 PM - 5:30 PM | Panel Discussion - Demand Centers for Low-Emission Ammonia: Asia
In the first of our panel sessions to explore global demand centers for low-emission ammonia, we turn our focus on Asia. The region is a key first-mover in the ammonia energy space, with an ecosystem of players working to establish early supply chains and enable imports. For this discussion, we draw on the direct experience of some first-mover customers in Japan, Singapore and beyond.
How are they structuring their first supply contracts, and what do these early supply chains into Asia look like? What infrastructure, regulatory & technical changes are needed to realise these imports, and how are these challenges being worked through? With a less-strict focus on color or carbon-intensity of the imported ammonia, will these first Asian supply chains assist the overall development of the global market, and provide valuable learnings?

8:30 AM - 9:45 AM | Panel Discussion - Demand Center for Low-Emission Ammonia II - Global Fertilizers
In the second of our panel sessions to explore global demand centres for low-emission ammonia, we turn our focus on a key market segment: fertilizers. Fertilizer production has been the biggest consumer of ammonia worldwide since the Haber Bosch process was industrialized, and demand for ammonia-based fertilizers continues to grow. In this session, we zero in on the immediate customer for low-emission fertilizer: who are they, where are they, and how can we best structure early markets to enable them to access these valuable products? This session will present a range of global perspectives, plus an outlook on first-mover markets for low-emission fertilizer.

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Technology Track - Ammonia Gas Turbines: Pathway to Deployment
Ammonia-fired gas turbines are fast becoming a commercial reality. Various OEMs are busy developing new-build turbines, retrofits for existing, utility-scale models, and a host of enabling technologies to allow for ammonia and ammonia fuel blends to be used safely and sustainably. On the deployment side, strategic roadmaps are being developed to allow for a rapid roll-out of these technologies.
In this session, we showcase the technological advances toward ammonia-fired gas turbines. How are technological developments addressing the known issues facing ammonia-fired gas turbines (NOX, N2O, and unburnt ammonia emissions, plus difficult combustion properties)? How are these enabling technologies being made cheap and accessible for customers? What is the wider strategy for rolling these technologies out, particularly when it comes to converting existing turbine assets to run on new fuels?

1:30 PM - 3:30 PM | Technology Track - Low-emission Ammonia for Maritime Propulsion
It’s an exciting time for maritime ammonia. 2024 has seen a number of key demonstrations take place, including the first vessels sailing on ammonia fuel. Global shipping companies have new vessels on order (with some currently under-construction), and engine developers are in the final stages of commercializing retrofit packages and new build engine models.
As we enter a critical stretch for the deployment of maritime ammonia fuel, we present this session as an opportunity to hear directly from the engine manufacturers and implementation leaders. How have they faced challenges to date, particularly emissions mitigation from ammonia-powered engines? How have they put the building blocks together to enable widespread adoption of maritime ammonia fuel, and what pieces are still missing? What lessons can be learned from completed and underway demonstration projects? What does the deployment timeline look like, and what can we expect in the coming year?

8:30 AM - 9:45 AM | Panel Discussion - Demand Centers for Low-Emission Ammonia IV: Global Shipping
In the fourth and final of our panel sessions to explore global demand centers for low-emission ammonia, we turn our focus to a brand new (but potentially game-changing) market segment: marine fuel. While fertilizers are historically the biggest demand driver for ammonia production globally, forecasts are that the global shipping industry could eclipse this demand within a matter of decades. As the technological, design, safety and implementation barriers to using ammonia as a marine fuel are being overcome one by one, we ask the shipping companies themselves for more insight into early markets. How are first-movers locking in a supply of marine ammonia fuel, and what are all the requisite considerations? How can a global market be kick-started, and what lessons can we learn from early agreements based on direct offtake between ammonia producers and shipping firms?
