Avina Clean Hydrogen announced that it has been issued a final air permit for the facility, clearing a key set of environmental and regulatory hurdles. The project has already secured pre-certification under the EU’s RFNBO standards, as well as South Korea’s official Clean Hydrogen Pre-Certification program.

Electrolysis-based projects progress in USA & Canada
KBR has been selected as technology provider for two future production projects in Texas and Washington state. At the Port of Galveston, Texas Green Fuels has begun pre-FEED work and sourcing renewable electricity for its fuels export complex. And in Nova Scotia, Bear Head Energy has received environmental approval to proceed with its 2 million tonnes per year production project near Point Tupper.

This week we explore three mega-scale production projects planned for Texas. On the Gulf Coast, Avina Clean Hydrogen is developing a 100% renewable-powered ammonia plant. In northern Texas, Air Products and AES are planning a 1.4 GW wind & solar-powered hydrogen production facility targeting the heavy trucking market, and in Beaumont OCI has just broken ground on its new million-tonne-per-year CCS ammonia plant.
