    Mitsubishi Heavy Industries joins Port of Newcastle to develop new clean hub

    MHI has joined the Clean Energy Precinct project in Newcastle, Australia, and will leverage its experience developing the Takasago Hydrogen Park in Japan. Located adjacent to the world’s largest coal port, the Clean Energy Precinct will feature “production, storage, distribution and export” facilities, focused on electrolytic hydrogen and ammonia.

    Mitsui OSK Lines has released an alternative fuel roadmap as part of its new environmental strategy, with a significant role for hydrogen & ammonia fuels starting from later this decade. The roadmap is complemented by a new strategic investment in ammonia fuel production in the US, and new partnerships in Singapore & Australia.     The Clean Energy Precinct: Port of Newcastle’s renewable ammonia plans unveiled

    The Clean Energy Precinct will develop over 1.6 GW of electrolytic hydrogen production capacity within 5 years, as well as producing renewable ammonia. Works on the project are expected to commence in 2025, with commercial operations expected in 2028.
