Facilitated by the Port of Rotterdam, Trammo, OCI, James Fisher Fendercare successfully completed a ship-to-ship transfer of ammonia between two vessels berthed at APM Terminals Maasvlakte earlier this month. The successful pilot raises the Port of Rotterdam’s “Port Readiness Level” for marine ammonia fuel to the deployment phase.
ExxonMobil and Trammo are in talks which will see the latter offtake 300,000 to 500,000 tons of low-carbon ammonia from the under-development, CCS-based ammonia project in Baytown, Texas.
Yara has officially opened its new ammonia import terminal in Germany, with enough capacity to handle 3 million tons of ammonia imports per year. In France, Trammo will support the redevelopment of a section of Elengy’s Fos Tonkin LNG terminal into an ammonia import location, including construction of an ammonia storage tank, rail access and bunkering facilities.
Trammo will purchase up to 100% of renewable ammonia produced by Allied Green Ammonia in the Northern Territory, Australia, with the first ammonia sales anticipated to occur in late 2028. In further news for AGA’s project, Germany-based EPC firm SPG Steiner will supply two 40,000 ton, cryogenic tanks to store ammonia production before offtake.
Trammo will purchase & sell up to 100,000 tonnes per year of renewable ammonia from Iberdrola in Spain, starting in 2026. The agreement kickstarts a green hydrogen corridor linking southern and northern Europe, with Trammo to focus on ammonia sales to industrial customers.
Trammo and Canada-based Teal Corporation have signed an exclusive supply and off-take agreement this week for green ammonia produced at Teal’s to-be-built plants. The first is a hydroelectric ammonia plant in Quebec, producing 800,000 tonnes per year, with more projects planned to bring production capacity up to at least 2.5 million tonnes.
Trammo (one of the world's largest transporters of ammonia) will supply green ammonia to Lotte Fine Chemical (LFC is currently the largest ammonia buyer in Asia) after a new agreement was signed this week. The MoU represents the first green ammonia supply agreement in Korea, and is a critical step in LFC's development of a Korea-wide ammonia value chain.
