AEA Task Force participation
As the AEA expands our programs and activities in 2025, we invite our member companies and partner organizations to participate in various Task Forces. Additional initiatives will be launched during the year.
Some Task Forces are open, and all members who nominate themselves will be invited to join; other Task Forces are limited, and only a small group of qualified participants will be selected to join.

Safety Task Force
The Safety Task Force will direct staff in the development and communication of key safety communications, act as a steering group to oversee the execution of deliverables developed by sub-committees, and develop recommendations for the establishment of an AEA Safety Program. It is anticipated that the Safety Task Force will disband in mid-2025, to be replaced by a standing Safety Committee. More information.
Duration: Q1 and Q2 2025. Reports to Executive Committee. Limited participation.
Certification: Pilot Operation Task Force
Starting in Q1 2025, the Pilot Operation Task Force will oversee the implementation and operation of the AEA’s ammonia certification system pilot. For this task force, we are seeking pilot participants and experienced certification / trading / registry users from across the value chain (not only producers).
Duration: Q1 2025 to Q4 2025. Reports to the Certification Committee. Limited participation.
Certification: ISO 19870-3 Development Task Force
With work focused in the first half of 2025, this Task Force will oversee the development of ISO 19870-3 (“Hydrogen Technologies – Methodology for Determining the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Associated with the Hydrogen Supply Chain – Part 3: Emissions Associated with the Production and Transport of Ammonia up to Consumption Gate and the Conversion of Ammonia into Hydrogen and its Transport up to Consumption Gate”). This Task Force will be responsible for developing and submitting the first working draft into the ISO process, and coordinating ongoing discussion and revisions within ISO until anticipated publication in December 2026.
Duration: Q1 2025 through Q4 2026. Reports to the Certification Committee. Limited participation.
Ammonia Gas Detection Task Force
In Q4 2024, the AEA established a task force of experts to organize information on the available technologies, applications, monitoring programs, and relevant standards for ammonia gas detection. Initial outcomes were presented at the AEA’s 2024 Annual Conference and the Task Force is currently preparing a whitepaper to support the development and deployment of safety systems in new ammonia applications. Cracking Ammonia Task Force
In 2022, the AEA established a working group of experts to organize information on the available technologies and applications for cracking ammonia. A final draft of the resulting whitepaper will be distributed for review in Q1 2025, for publication upon approval. More information.
Duration: operational, to conclude to Q2 2025. Reports to Executive Committee. Open participation.
Strategic Plan Task Force
This task force is now filled. With participation from a range of our member companies, the AEA is now developing a one-page aspirational Strategic Plan in 2025 for implementation in 2026, and a detailed Three-Year Rolling Operations Plan for 2026-2028 to assure the strategic plan feeds into the activities of the AEA and goals are met. Duration: Q1 through Q4 2025 (underway, no additional participants required). Reports to Board of Directors. Limited participation.
