Horisont Energi and Port of Rotterdam team up on blue imports

Horisont Energi and the Port of Rotterdam announced a new MoU this week to set up a corridor for the transport of blue ammonia from northern Norway to Rotterdam. An FID for Horisont's 1-million-tonne-per-year Barents Blue project (the source of the blue ammonia) is due by the end of next year, with delivery to Rotterdam possible by 2025.

ENGIMMONIA project gets EU funding

Led by RINA with 21 project partners, the ENGIMMONIA project aims to transfer demonstrated, terrestrial clean energy solutions to the maritime sector. As of May, ENGIMONNIA is now fully-funded (€9.5 million) by the EU's Horizon 2020 program. The end result will see the MAN ES ammonia engine installed and demonstrated in three vessels: an oil tanker, a container ship, and a ferry.

Uniper explores off-take of green ammonia in Oman

In December last year DEME Concessions and OQ announced their new HYPORT® Duqm green ammonia project. The 250 - 500 MW facility (in the first instance) will harness wind and solar energy to produce green ammonia, which could then be easily exported from the adjacent port. This week DEME and OQ took another step by signing a key cooperation agreement with Uniper. The global energy giant will provide engineering services and negotiate an exclusive off-take agreement of green ammonia.
