PurpleGreen: renewable ammonia exports from Latvia
Latvia-based PurpleGreen Energy will deliver 550,000 tons per year of ammonia over a twenty-year contract period to German energy trader Select Energy. The under-development renewable ammonia production plant at the Port of Ventspils on the Baltic Sea is scheduled to begin operations in early 2029, powered by renewable electricity from Latvia’s national grid.
Australian, Canadian producers to supply ammonia for power generation to South Korea
Australia-based Pilot Energy has been approved as a potential low-emission ammonia fuel supplier under the newly-implemented Clean Hydrogen Production Standard (CHPS) scheme in Korea. In Alberta, Korea Southern Power will work with Hydrogen Canada Corporation to jointly develop a 1 million tons per year ammonia production facility.
CWP Global joins renewable ammonia project in Angola
CWP Global has joined an existing consortium with plans to build a 400,000 tons per year renewable ammonia project in Angola, powered by spare hydroelectric power generation.
