Presentation

The AEA’s Ammonia Certification System has made steady progress since our 2024 annual conference, where we explored design decisions made in the development of the pilot system. In this session, we provide a full overview of the System as it enters pilot operations. Audience members will find out more about joining the pilot, more details about how the certificate registry will be used, and how the System can be utilized by companies along the ammonia value chain. The combined presentation covers two sections, including a registry walk-through with MiQ, and then a stakeholder discussion section featuring Envision and Tolero H2…

In April 2025, the pair agreed to collaborate with the city of Pohang, South Korea to deploy a 1MW, ammonia-fed, distributed power generation system next year. The partners already have plans to scale up the installation to a 40 MW system by 2028-29, providing ammonia-fueled, carbon-free electricity to clean electricity-hungry customers in Pohang. Supported by national legislation that aims to accelerate the rollout of zero-carbon distributed power generation in the country over the next 5-10 years, Amogy and GS E&C are targeting a critical, potentially lucrative market in South Korea. Join us to learn more about the partnership, and related…

In March 2025, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) acquired Netherlands-based LBC Tank Terminals as part of a strategic move towards a “total chemical logistics service system”. The pair will leverage an impressive joint array of logistics infrastructure, working to unlock expanded future flows of ammonia. Meanwhile, Yara and MOL are ongoing partners in a series of first mover marine ammonia fuel projects, including time charters, to ship-to-ship bunkering demonstrations, and development of ammonia-fueled vessels. Learn more about the trio’s plans to connect to the full ammonia energy value chain.

Presentation

The region is a hotbed of activity in the decarbonized ammonia and energy transition space, with project developers looking to leverage existing infrastructure, expertise and an experienced local workforce. This conversation features a number of organizations at the forefront of this regional movement. Join us on our opening afternoon to hear what makes the region an attractive prospect for developers, what local alliances & groups are doing to help streamline project development, and what future role Southeastern Texas and the wider Gulf Coast region can play as we move towards lower-carbon ammonia production.

23,500 tons of ammonia certified under the Fertilizer Institute’s Verified Ammonia Carbon Intensity (VACI) Program were loaded onto the Trafigura-operated Oceanic Star in Louisiana last month. The cargo is en route to Antwerp, where chemicals and materials manufacturer Envalior will use the low-carbon ammonia as a feedstock to produce the monomer caprolactam and downstream resins.

Meet China Energy Engineering Group (Energy China) and logistics and terminal specialist Jiangsu Andefu (ADF), two partners in an emerging renewable ammonia supply chain in northeast China. Energy China’s Songyuan project is expected to produce a combined 800,000 tons of renewable ammonia and methanol annually at full scale. Energy China also co-owns an ammonia storage terminal at Panjin Port along with ADF, and in 2024 jointly initiated the establishment of the “Northeast Asia Green Bunkering Fuel Supply Chain Alliance”.

GMF’s new report finds that both ammonia and methanol fuels are now “ready” for commercial deployment, but a concerted push is required to enable scale-up beyond 2030. The report highlights the increased familiarity (and confidence) from key maritime stakeholders with ammonia fuel, and a recommendation to independently verify emissions from the first ammonia-fueled vessels.
