Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) has announced a strategic partnership with Envision Energy on H2 Cumbuco, a renewable ammonia project currently under development in Pecém Port, Brazil. The partnership will see Envision bring its pioneering modular, scalable, AI-enabled, integrated renewable hydrogen production platform to the project.
Proving its capability to deploy the production platform at scale, Envision recently commissioned its off-grid 320,0000 tons-per-year renewable ammonia plant near Chifeng City in China, which will begin deliveries in Q4 of this year.
H2 Cumbuco will feature 500 MW electrolysis capacity, integrated with an ammonia plant which is expected to be operational by 2030, targeting markets in Brazil, Europe and Asia. The project, which has been under development since 2023, is advanced in engineering and environmental permitting, with land and water rights already secured.
FRV is experienced in clean energy solutions, backed by 3 GW of operational renewable and storage assets. FRV also has, for multiple years, been actively engaged in the development of renewable hydrogen projects. The company has secured public funding for two renewable hydrogen-related initiatives in Spain. Brazil, host of COP30 this year, is developing a competitive low carbon economy with a focus on renewable ammonia production for the domestic and export markets.
This collaboration is more than a step towards decarbonization; it is a blueprint for how global energy transition can be operationalized. Together with FRV, we are reshaping the entire renewable energy system and advancing Brazil’s green energy infrastructure.
Henry Peng, SVP and President of Latin America and the European Region for Envision Energy, in his organisation’s official press release, 31 July 2025
At FRV, we firmly believe that the development of renewable hydrogen and its derivatives is a fundamental pillar in advancing global decarbonization. We see Brazil as a country with the potential to become a global leader in this sector, thanks to its strategic geographic position, strong commitment to the energy transition, and broad public support. We are excited about the potential that this alliance with Envision can bring to the H2 Cumbuco project, in order to provide clean, competitive, and sustainable energy solutions while supporting Brazil’s economic and environmental development.
