Local joint venture to develop $4 billion hub, including renewable energy generation

Click to learn more. Hynfra and Yamna have signed agreements with the state of Andhra Pradesh to develop two renewable ammonia mega-projects.
Via a new joint venture, Hynfra and the JK Srivastava Group will develop a large-scale renewable ammonia facility near the port of Visakhapatnam, aiming to produce up to 1 million tons of green ammonia per year and install 3 GW of renewable energy generating capacity. At the recent Andhra Pradesh Green Hydrogen Summit, the pair have subsequently signed an MoU with the state renewable energy agency NREDCAP to progress the project, which will serve as the central export hub within Andhra Pradesh’s planned Green Hydrogen Valley. Total investment is expected to reach around $4 billion, with operations planned to begin in early 2029.
According to the announcement, a “significant share” of the ammonia will be exported for power generation fuel in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, with the remainder to be used domestically.
This agreement formalizes our cooperation with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and marks the beginning of one of the largest green ammonia projects in the Asia-Pacific region. Thanks to its scalability and reliance on clean energy, this project positions India as a key supplier of next-generation strategic energy carriers.
Chairman and Managing Director of JKSH JK Srivastava, in Hynfra’s official press release, 18 July 2025
This project combines over a century of expertise in chemical synthesis with India’s ambitious energy vision in a project that addresses urgent global market needs. Our goal is to create a platform for green hydrogen and its derivatives that meets the most demanding international standards, including RFNBO certification.

MoU with state government for grid-connected production project
Also at the Green Hydrogen Summit, UK-based developer Yamna signed an MoU with the state renewable energy agency NREDCAP for the development of a 1 million tons per year renewable ammonia facility near the Port of Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, sourcing renewable energy from the Indian grid. Yamna estimates that the total investment in the project will be around $2 billion. The ammonia will serve both domestic and export markets, leveraging the adjacent port infrastructure to access global markets in Europe and Asia.
The state’s rich renewable energy potential, progressive policy framework, and strategic location make it an ideal destination for green hydrogen development. We thank NERDCAP, AP EDB & AP IIC and other government departments for their active cooperation for the initiative. This project will not only support India’s decarbonization goals but will also position Andhra Pradesh as a key player in the global green hydrogen economy.
