Sumitomo Corporation has signed an MoU with Japanese shipping lines “K” Line and NYK Bulkship to jointly conduct a FEED study into a new-build ammonia bunkering vessel to be deployed in Singapore. The study will cover the vessel’s basic design, technical specifications, safety & operational requirements, as well as the structuring & ownership model tailored to the Singapore ammonia bunker market.
The new bunker vessel will be deployed as part of an integrated ammonia-fired power plant, terminal and bunker facility on Jurong Island. The facility development consortium is led by Keppel Infrastructure, which was one of two project finalists selected last year by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
