Yara & Azane Fuel Solutions to establish a carbon-free ammonia fuel bunker network

Fifteen floating bunker terminals pre-ordered
Yara has pre-ordered fifteen of Azane Fuel Solutions’ ammonia bunker terminal units. The floating or land-based units are currently under-development, with funding from the Norwegian government granted in September last year to build the first pilot terminal. Once delivered to Yara, a carbon-free ammonia fuel bunker network will be established in Scandinavia.
These bunkering terminals are key pieces of the puzzle to ensure reliable and safe ammonia supply as zero-emission fuel. Yara is excited to be a part of the project and to own and operate the first operational ammonia fuel terminals in the world.

A ship management service for ammonia-fueled vessels
Amon Maritime – a founding partner of Azane Fuel Solutions – launched a 50:50 joint venture with Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) at the Nor-Shipping event in Oslo this week. The new ship management organisation – Ula Ship Management – will be based in southern Norway and specialize in ammonia-fueled vessels, including the management of Amon Maritime’s future ammonia-fueled fleet. BSM has an extensive history in maritime transport of ammonia, and is today the largest third-party manager of vessels with LNG dual-fuel engines.
Ula Ship Management promotes to access the strong Norwegian market with its diversely positioned ship owners. At the same time, we are consciously entering the operation of ammonia-powered vessels. With Amon Maritime, we have a partner at our side who has extensive expertise in this innovative and sustainable field. Our experience is an excellent match.
