In other ground breaking news, the first major equipment was erected for AM Green Ammonia’s 1.5 million tons per year renewable ammonia project in Kakinada, India.
Envision Energy has released further details about its AI architecture, with two “foundation models” working in tandem to optimize renewable energy inputs for ammonia production, potentially unlocking millions of tons of production potential in China. Meanwhile, KBR and UK-based Applied Computing will combine AI capabilities with an existing digital control platform, allowing users to optimize operations.
The long-term, binding offtake agreement has been signed for renewable ammonia produced at AM Green’s under-development facility in Kakinada, India. 500,000 tons per year of RFNBO-certified ammonia will be shipped to Europe as early as 2028. The agreement has been in the works since 2023.
Anglo-Eastern announced that the first cohort has successfully completed its inaugural Pilot Training Course on Ammonia as a Marine Fuel. Already the ship manager for the ammonia-fueled vessel Fortescue Green Pioneer, Anglo-Eastern will soon take on that responsibility for a series of vessels coming out of Chinese shipyards, managing vessels for CMB.TECH.
At the recent India Maritime Week event, VOC Port Authority signed agreements with ACME ($1.4 billion) and CGS Energy ($570 million) for renewable ammonia production projects, and an agreement with Sembcorp for a $2.9 billion, common-use storage project for ammonia and other liquid commodities.
The pair will develop a “master plan” for production, transport and utilization of renewable ammonia to Japan, Singapore, and other APAC markets. The development progress of the renewable ammonia production ecosystem in India (and recent SECI auction results and project requirements) were explored at a recent World Bank webinar.
