The pair announced that the first deliveries of renewable molecules will take place. Ammonia produced with electrolytic hydrogen feedstock at BASF’s manufacturing HQ in Ludwigshafen, Germany, will be shipped to OCI’s fertilizer manufacturing facility in Geleen, Netherlands. The ammonia will be incorporated into fertilizers in OCI’s “Pure” product line. BASF’s ISCC-certified renewable ammonia first hit the European market in May 2025.
In October 2024, BASF delivered a shipment of BMBcertTM grade ammonia to Evonik as a raw material in the production of products including industrial flooring, marine and anticorrosive paints, shoe soles, sunglasses, gas pipes, safety-related automotive parts, and others. The ammonia was produced via a biomass balanced approach, with a 65% lower carbon footprint.
