A new Japanese project aims to demonstrate CCS-based, domestic ammonia production in Kashiwazaki city, with a view to exporting the technology platform from Japan to the rest of Asia. Japan – arguably the first country with a consolidated vision for ammonia as a zero-carbon fuel – has a goal of not only being a first-mover on ammonia fuel imports, but also leading development & deployment of technology solutions throughout the APAC region.
To discuss, Yasushi Shimano (Deputy director (Geologist) of Subsurface Division, Hydrogen and CCS project Department, JOGMEC), & Tomoyuki Koide (Deputy General Manager Marketing, Tsubame BHB) were joined in conversation by AEA Technology Manager Kevin Rouwenhorst.
